We love seeing your work on our feeds - Tell us about your style and what kind of tattoos would you love to do going forward - more of the same or anything different you want to come through your Get Ink Enquiry form!
Colour, colour and more colour! I’m so excited by the variety of work that comes through the enquiries via Get Ink, it keeps me on my toes, my ideas fresh and my skill continues to be pushed to a higher level. My favourite area of work is anything pop culture related, Disney, mash up of cartoon and realism. Moving forward I would love to take on larger scale projects encompassing a variety of styles!
Storytime - how did you get into tattooing?
As cliché as it sounds, tattooing has been something I have always wanted to do but for many years doubted myself so much that I never pursued the career. I have come from working in prop making, set building and sculpture for the film and television industry and after a term of ill health (and not really enjoying the job) I decided to put myself out there and really work hard to enter the industry. 4 years later here we are, still not quite believing I get to do this every day!
Tell us a little more about the studio you work at - where is it, what’s the general vibe and who do you work with?
I currently work at Pleasure or Pain Productions in South Wales with a great group of talented people and an amazing support network. The group includes my business partner, and good friend Rich McCann and we have something very exciting in the pipeline so keep those beady eyes peeled.
What is the best thing about being a tattoo artist?
The people we meet! I’m so grateful for the friendships I have formed with clients, artists and others within the industry. I am forever humbled by the way people are comfortable enough to open up and share such monumental moments with me through the art of tattooing and continue to support me. I always said I wanted a job that allowed me to travel and this year has been filled with some pretty cool working holidays up and down the UK and Ireland, hopefully next year will take me even further afield!
We’re always interested to learn more about the industry outside of the admin side of things - what tools and products do you use?
My colleagues are very enthusiastic in sharing and trying out each others new products however these are a list of my favourites
Cartridges : Ghost and Ghost Hex
Aftercare : Butterluxe Derma Protect and balm (made by my super cool sponsors Butterluxe, I also use majority of their collection during the tattoo process too - their stencil glue is incredible)
Machine : Injecta Flite X1 and I’m always pinching Rich’s many others to try out
Ink: A variety of Raw and World Famous
You’ve been with us a while now - what did you do before Get Ink to manage your enquiries and bookings and what do you find most useful about the platform?
Previously all my bookings were made via email but Get Ink has been a game changer, thank you! I love the organisation of the booking system, everything is kept in one place and answers all the questions I have for my clients. It also helps me stay in the mindset of keeping work during work hours.
